Dedicated to one of Britains most beautiful actresses Kate Winslet
Kate Elizabeth Winslet was born October 5, 1975 in Reading Berkshire, and is a five-time Academy Award-nominated, Golden Globe-nominated, Emmy Award-nominated, BAFTA, Grammy and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning English actress.
She is noted for having played a wide range of diverse characters over her career, but is probably best-known for her critically acclaimed performances as Juliet Hulme in Heavenly Creatures (1994), Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility, Rose DeWitt Bukater in the highest-grossing film of all time, Titanic (1997), and Clementine Kruczynski in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
News just in.......................
Kate Winslet is set to move back to England after the breakdown of her second marriage, she has told close friends.
The Oscar winner, 34, is said to be in ‘turmoil’ about the split with director Sam Mendes and is pondering a move back from New York, where she has lived for nearly seven years, to be close to her friends and family. A source close to the mother-of-two said: ‘Kate is in meltdown mode and doesn't know quite what to do.
Sam Mendes, told Kate Winslet that he could never be with just one woman for the rest of his life, a friend claims ‘The people she's close to in New York are mums in schools but she thinks that will all change and her real friends – Emma Thompson, her sister Anna and her parents - are all over here. ‘Kate feels she needs a support system, but she is torn because doesn't want to disrupt her kids and is able to be very low key in New York.’ Kate will shortly return to filming her new HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce in the States.
Sad news about Kate Winslet’s marriage break-up with Sam Mendez last week – yet in the wake of The Reader and Revolutionary Road, her ability to snag juicy film parts is undimmed.
She has taken the title role in Mildred Pierce, a remake of one of the greatest “women’s pictures”, which earned Joan Crawford an Oscar in 1945. This time round, it’s a multi-part series for HBO, with our Kate cast as the single mother with huge ambitions for her ungrateful daughter (Evan Rachel Wood)
Todd Haynes, who has already mastered this genre with Far From Heaven, directs and has adapted James M Cain’s novel. Sounds intriguing — and it’s also proof of Winslet’s ability with mature roles. Crawford was 41 when she got her Oscar; Winslet is just 34.
